About Barb.

Barb spent 32 years as an educator in Michigan.  She holds a BM degree in piano performance and pedagogy from the University of Michigan, and a teacher certification and MA in school administration from Michigan State University.  In addition to college course work in art, she has studied with a number of well-known artists.  Barb has won competitions in Alabama and Florida and her art is found across the USA.  She is retired, currently lives in NE Florida and is a member of several plein air groups. Barb occasionally joins paint-outs and teaches workshops.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Creating something new and unique is motivating.  I am especially excited to paint outdoors (en plein air) in almost any setting.  I like to record history by painting cottages, cityscapes, and natural areas. Plein air painting records a moment in time and place.  Studio work is sometimes experimental and abstract.  My hope is that the viewer will feel  the mood of each painting regardless of the subject matter.
